Overview

This guide represents the Document Repository for Sri Lanka. The API for inbound and outbound interactions are defined within.

Document Management and Document Repository

A Document Repository is an application that stores documents, usually with metadata (for searching) and a file. Document Management is the process of organizing, retrieving, and controlling documents, both physical and electronic, throughout their lifecycle. Thie guide describes FHIR interfaces that manage documents and MAY store documents as well; storage MAY be the responsibility of an entirely separate application.

Consideration 🔎 In this system documents formats (mime types) have not been constrained. In the future this may change to allow, for example only FHIR Documents and CDA content. Currently FHIR Documents and any document that can be encoded into base64 is permitted.

Consideration 🔎 Direct access to the Document Repository, outside the FHIR interfaces, SHOULD be discouraged.
